Cooking corn dog the easy way

When you hear the word corn dog what came to your mind? Is it a combination of a corn and a dog? Well sound corny and nonsense. According to Wikipedia corn dog is a sausage usually a hot dog on  a stick that has been coated in a thick layer of cornmeal batter and deep fried. It is originated in the United States and is commonly found in American cuisine.

Being a fan of Korean drama and curiosity about Korean food I thought corn dog is originally from South Korea because I saw it in Korean drama and one of the food present in mukbang. Mukbang is eating a large quantity of food showing it with an audience and originated in South Korea. Very popular nowadays in youtube. Corn dog is also a food shown in Korean drama Start Up so that's the reason why I think it's really from Korea originally.

Social media has  a huge influence in our life today. Photo of a food seen in Facebook, Instagram, or Youtube make us crave and pushed us  to eat and try. But sometimes  sad to say it is not available within our vicinity. And maybe we don't have enough amount to buy. So here comes the idea of DIY and homemade cooking.

My first time cooking corn dog is made from scratch. Just a leftover hot dog and small amount of flour, sugar, bread crumbs and pinch  of salt. I cut the hot dog in a half and it made a bite size corn dog. It taste good but I know something is lacking maybe because the ingredients is incomplete.

My second try, I search about the  ingredients but still I try the budget friendly one. Doing the batter is not easy for me. It need a proper consistency inorder for it to stick on hot dog.

This corn dog recipe is affordable and it's a Filipino way of cooking. The dipping sauce is just catsup and mayonaise. You can add sugar too just like the Korean way but I prefer the simple catsup and mayonaise. Mustard is usually use too, but I hate the taste so never tried with it.
Below is my simple and low budget recipe. You can add the quantity if you want more finish product. Note: you can use cheese too like the featured Korean corn dog in a vlog in Youtube.  I've never been to Korea and never tried the cheese version so maybe next time wanna try it.
