Chicken Feet Soup Filipino Style
Some people don't like eating chicken feet because it is discarded as waste product. They thought it is disgusting because live chicken usually step on their own poop even though it is well cleaned before cooking it. It looks weird and not appetizing. Some aren't familiar about it and how to cook it.
In Mexico, Peru,Jamaica,Vietnam chicken feet are cooked and eaten. China is the most popular in eating chicken feet. It can be found everywhere from formal banquet halls or in an ordinary eatery or at home. In Korea chicken feet is stir fried with hot chili sauce.They are often eaten as good serve with alcohol. In the Philippines we called it "adidas" as it looks like the logo of popular shoe brand Adidas. Filipinos most popular way of cooking chicken feet is marinated in a barbecue sauce and grilled like a barbecue. One of the famous street food sold in the street.
Chicken feet looks yucky but it is abundant with health benefits. It is high in collagen which prevent bone loss, good for our joint, it also aid skin health. Collagen help to raise energy level and boost metabolism.
Chicken feet adobo is one of my favorite specially when it is a little bit spicy. Adobo is a Filipino dish usually meat cooked in soy sauce and vinegar and a little amount of sugar. I made an experiment cooking chicken feet with soup. I added some vegetables to make it healthier.
Chicken Feet Soup
Ingredients:
1/2 kilogram chicken feet
1 whole medium cabbage
1 whole medium sweet corn sliced
Thinly sliced ginger
Green Chili
Garlic
Onion
2 tablespoon oil
Black pepper
Salt or seasoning
Patis ( fish sauce) 2 tablespoon
3/4 cup Sprite
Water
Procedure:
*Saute garlic,onion and ginger. Saute chicken feet and let the water content of chicken feet reduced.
*Add water according to your desired volume of broth.
*Let it boil and add sweet corn and sprite.
* Boil until chicken feet become tender.
*Add cabbage and green chili season with salt or seasoning.
*Add black pepper and fish sauce. Boil until the cabbage is cook.
Chicken Feet Soup with Banana and Pechay
Ingredients:
1/2 kilogram chicken feet
Pechay leaves
2 Medium ripe banana(saba)
Garlic
Onion
Black pepper
Salt or seasoning
Fish sauce
Procedure:
*Saute garlic and onion. Saute chicken feet and let the water content of chicken feet reduced.
*Add water according to your desired volume of broth.
* Let it boil until chicken feet become tender.
*Add banana and boil until banana is fully cooked.
* Add pechay leaves and green chili season with salt, add black pepper and fish sauce. Boil for 2 munutes.
